I was logging in to my Gmail yesterday when a window prompted that there might be an attempt to login my account from an altogether different ISP that I usually use.
I’m not residing outside Malaysia anymore so there shouldn't really be instances of these.
Admittedly, I do use VPN and proxy servers from time to time; but I rarely log into my mails during those time.
Fearing the worst, I changed the password.
Taking it a step further, I enabled the 2 step verification and also changed my phone number verification to a new one.
I think those are paranoid enough prevention steps huh?
I can’t really help it. I’ve had 2 gmail accounts frozen previously with Google citing suspicious activities as their reason.
One was my primary account and the other was a tertiary account.
I reasoned politely and asked for clarification on the matter from the Gmail help guys and they re-enabled it immediately after that, with all the data and inboxes intact.
I was beyond panic at the time though.
Not only does the primary gmail account consist of important day to day conversations between myself and any number of people; it also archives all the serial numbers of the expensive Mac softwares that I bought over the years - of which I haven't backed up anywhere.
I’d die if I couldn’t recover that gmail account.
